In MIMAROPA, DOLE holds three Labor Day Job Fairs

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA Director Zenaida Angara-Campita has reported that the Labor Day Job and Livelihood Fairs in Calapan City, Puerto Princesa City and Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro attained a total of 3455applicants.

 “This is the first time that we conducted three job fairs in connection with the celebration of Labor Day. Two in Oriental Mindoro while one in the City of Puerto Princesa,” Director Angara-Campita said.

 For the 3,455 registered applicants, 2,500 of them were scheduled for further interview by the local employers while other 546 were listed for further interview by the overseas recruitment agencies. Meanwhile, 56 applicants were hired on the spot.

 During the Region-wide Labor Day Job Fair in Calapan City, 17 local employers and three overseas recruitment agencies participated in the event offering more than 5,000 job vacancies.

 The Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) in the Province of Oriental Mindoro, Calapan City and Puerto Princesa City supported the job fairs. Moreover, school-based PESOs in Divine Word College of Calapan (DWCC) and Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology (MinSCAT) Bongabong Campus gave their assistance in the conduct of the job fairs in Calapan City and Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro respectively. In Palawan, the Labor Day Job Fair was in partnership with ABS-CBN Palawan.

Aside from the jobs offered, the job fair featured skills demonstration on fish and meat processing and basic body massageconducted for free by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) MIMAROPA benefiting 235 participants from the skills demonstration.

 The Professional Regulations Commission extended their services such as license renewal and application for teachers to 634 clients. Wage Orientation on the New Wage Order in the region was also provided by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board IV-B.

 Other members of the DOLE MIMAROPA-Regional Coordinating Council, namely, the National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration also participated in the event by giving,their respective services to the public.
