DOLE MIMAROPA spearheaded a two-day capacity-building workshop attended by Career Advocates of MIMAROPA, Inc. on October 27 to 28, 2016 at Manila Manor Hotel aimed to provide the career guidance advocates up to date labor market information for their use in their advocacy of better employment opportunities of students and job seekers.
145 participants composed of Guidance Counselors, both from private and public schools, DOLE MIMAROPA personnel, invited speakers from Bureau of Local Employment, Department of Education, Calapan City PESO, and Professional Regulation Commission attended the said workshop.
Employability and Career Success, Labor Market Trends, Role of PESO’s in career guidance advocacy, guidance and counseling, and Jobstart- life skills training were among the topics discussed during the said activity.
Another significant part of the program was presentation of guidance and advocacy activities and accomplishments of seven (7) DepEd division offices, and submission of action plans, comments and suggestions on draft Career Guidance and Advocacy Plan 2017-2022. There was also election of new officers of Career Advocates of MIMAROPA, Inc. in which Dr. Oscar Linga was re-elected as President. Director Alvin M. Villamor presided the oath taking ceremonies of new set of officers of Career Advocates of MIMAROPA.
