DOLE ROMBLON CONDUCTS WODP TRAINING IN SIBUYAN, ROMBLON

 DOLE Romblon conducted another training under the Workers Organizational and Development Program last November 7-9, 2016. The training focused on the discussion of organizational and entrepreneurship development. It was conducted at Rance’s Haven, Tampayan, Magdiwang, Romblon and attended by five (5) associations from Municipalities of Magdiwang, San Fernando and Magdiwang in Sibuyan.

 The associations were mostly composed of tricycle drivers, farmers and fisherfolks and who seemed very receptive of the livelihood program of the department.

 Mr. Carlo B. Villaflores encouraged them to enter entrepreneurship to increase their association’s fund. He also discussed the basic principles in marketing and organizational development. He mentioned the main principles and aspects that fuel the association to progress and success. The OWWA Family Welfare Officer, Ms. Glory Lee Foja, discussed principles involved in entrepreneurship and basic financial management including basic bookkeeping that will be very helpful for their future endeavors of availing livelihood assistance from the department.

 After the training, the associations were given time to make their own project proposals. They discussed and brainstormed the viable livelihood projects they would like to propose, listed down the positive and negative sides of the livelihood and determine strategies to help their livelihood project develop and become successful.

 In response to the training assistance of the department, the participants as represented by Mr. Barlaam Roa, President of the Magic 5 Fisherfolk Association thanked the DOLE for giving them the opportunity to attend the said training. He promised to encourage his members to have trust and patience when completing the documentary requirements for the livelihood assistance. He also heartfully thanked the department for its never ending support for the workers and them, as fishermen.
