DOLE Romblon awards fund to 3 associations in Looc


Mr. Carlo B. Villaflores, together with DOLE Romblon FO Staff and Ms. Glory Lee Foja, the Family Welfare Officer of OWWA awarded livelihood grants to three (3) associations in the municipality of Looc last February 17, 2017. Officers and members of the beneficiary associations, Mga Asawa ng mga Mangingisda Asosasyon ng Looc (MAMMAL), Samahang Magkakanin ng Looc (SAMAGKALO) and D’ Sisters Food Processing Association, were present during the awarding. The municipal mayor of Looc, Hon. Mayor Leila M. Arboleda and PESO Manager Ms. Josefa del Prado, were also present during the activity.

Mr. Villaflores reminded the associations that they should submit monthly financial reports to the DOLE Romblon Field Office and the disbursement of fund should be patterned in accordance with the project proposals. He also encouraged the members of the barangay councils to take opportunities and have livelihood projects for their associations.

Mayor Arboleda pointed out that the association should always strive to ensure success of their livelihood projects. “Dapat ay mamuhunan ng kaunting pagod at kaunting pera, o di kaya ay malaking pagod at kaunting pera para maging successful”. She also mentioned that since the associations are involved in food processing, they should also focus on the product’s packaging. She encouraged them to ask for assistance from other national agencies as well.

The Mga Asawa ng mga Mangingisda Asosasyon ng Looc (MAMMAL) received Php 303,455.00 for their project Fish and Seaweed Products Processing, Samahang Magkakanin ng Looc (SAMAGKALO), on other hand, received Php 510,950.00 for their Catering Services. Lastly, D’ Sisters Food Processing Association was given Php 170,285.00 for Coconut Delicacies Production.

Furthermore, as part of DOLE Family, OWWA Romblon’s Ms. Glory Lee Foja shared the program and services of the OWWA for welfare of the OFWs and their families. She stressed that the OWWA is aiming to disseminate their programs and services in order to serve and reach more clients.
