DOLE HELPS THREE DISPLACED WORKERS CLAIM SEPARATION PAY AND OTHER BENEFITS THROUGH SENA

Through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA), the DOLE Occidental Mindoro Field Office has settled the monetary claims of three sales ladies who were illegally dismissed by their former employer.

Ms. Judy Ann Pedraza together with her co-workers Ms. Janette Oclarino and Ms. Jilian Caballero, residents of Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro filed on 8 February 2017 their Request for Assistance (RFA) alleging that PowerPlus Store-Mamburao Branch committed illegal dismissal, underpayment of wages, non-payment of regular holiday, overtime pay, 13th month pay and separation pay.

During the first conciliation conference on February 15, 2017 facilitated by Single Entry Approach Desk Officer (SEADO) Ms. Mylene Lleno, the company representative explained that the issues raised by their former workers shall be brought first to their higher management for decision. Another conference was held on February 27, 2017 where both parties agreed to amicably settle the issues.

One worker received P30, 000.00, while the others were given P15, 000.00 and P20, 000.00 respectively, reaching a total of P65, 000.00 after executing quitclaim.

Pedraza and her company expressed their gratitude to the DOLE Occidental Mindoro Field Office for extending speedy assistance in resolving their complaint.

This case is just one of the 6 requests for assistance handled and settled by the office under the SENA program for the first quarter of 2017.
