DOLE MIMAROPA holds 5th Regional Career Advocacy Congress

The DOLE MIMAROPA spearheaded the “5th Regional Career Advocacy Congress”(RCAC) with a theme: “Making Sound and Informed Career Choices: Honing 21st Century Skills of the Filipino Youth.” Its aim is to capacitate and equip the career guidance providers with up to date labor market information for their use in the effective and efficient delivery of career guidance to the main clients- students, and job seekers. 

The 2-day activity was attended by 55 participants from MIMAROPA         region composed of guidance counselors,      career advocates        from private and public schools, the DOLE MIMAROPA personnel, and resource speakers from Government Institution, Career Guidance Advocacy Program Inter-Agency working group, PESO and SEAMEO-INNOTECH. 


Among the important topics discussed in the congress were the Career Guidance and Advocacy Plan (2017 to 2022) and Jobsfit 2022: LMI Report highlighting  MIMAROPA Key Employment Generators;  the Depeds Career

Guidance Program Road Map 2018 to 2022, harmonization of Career Guidance Program with Revitalized Homeroom Guidance Program (RHGP), Revision of  Grade 10,11 and 12 modules, conduct an impact evaluation and institutionalization of Career Guidance Program; the Jobstart implementation program at Puerto Princesa and its legal reference or the Jobstart Philippines Act, Republic Act No.10869 with its purpose of enhancing the employability of youth to improve their integration into productive employment and provision of Life Skills Training, Career Guidance, and Job Matching & Referrals to Employers, Technical Training and Internship; Continuing Professional Development Law or RA 10912.  

The Southeast Asian Ministers for Education Organization-Regional Centre for Education Innovation and Technology (SEAMEOINNOTECH) discussed about the Multiple Career Development Pathways Approach: Guidebook for Career Advocates - a toolkit aims to aid classroom teachers in serving as career advocates to guide students, particularly the Grade 10 learners, in making sound and informed career choices, beginning with selecting the appropriate tracks for their SHS program.

Career Advocates of MIMAROPA, Inc. (CAMI) also held its meeting during the congress where CGAP 2013-2016 Accomplishments, the group’s re-entry plan and future projects were discussed.
