DOLE Awards 1.7M to 3 livelihood groups in San Fernando, Romblon

September 20, 2017 - The Department of Labor and Employment Romblon Field Office through the leadership of its Field Office Head Mr. Carlo B. Villaflores, awarded checks with a total amount of 1,729,600.00 for three (3) livelihoods in the awarding ceremony held at the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LDRRMO), Municipal Compound in San Fernando, Romblon.

Mr. Villaflores, together with DOLE MIMAROPA Livelihood Focal Person Ms. Karen A. Bugarin presented the checks, ceremonial checks and approved memorandum of agreement and project proposals to Barangay Officials of Barangays Taclobo and Poblacion, San Fernando, Romblon as the Accredited Co-Partners (ACPs) of the projects. Municipal PESO Manager Mr. Enrico Ferrera and other Municipal officials and employees, Officers and members of the Obra Manabo Ibabaw Association; San Fernando, Romblon Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (SFRTODA); and, San Fernando Kabulig Association were also present to witness the said awarding ceremony.

DOLE gave Php925,500.00 and Php544,850.00 to fund the livelihood projects Tarpaulin, T-Shirt and Mug Printing Services of San Fernando Kabulig Association and Motorcycle Spare Parts Enterprise of SFRTODA of which Brgy. Poblacion will be the ACP or conduit of funds. Likewise, the department funded an amount of Php 259,250.00 to the project Rattan Wine Holder Production of Obra Manabo Ibabaw Association where Brgy. Taclobo is the ACP of the project.

Mr. Villaflores expressed happiness and excitement on the first livelihood support of DOLE for the two associations through the assistance of their respective ACPs. He also mentioned that active participation, open-mindedness and cooperation from officers and members of the association are some of the key elements in the success of their group’s endeavors. He likewise challenged the two associations to have the motivation to run their business well for once they are successful, DOLE will give further financial assistance to their project.

Hon. Robert R. Relox, Punong Barangay of Poblacion, San Fernando, Romblon likewise encouraged each beneficiary to help their association succeed in their endeavor and reiterated the importance of cooperation and trust among the members and officers.


The presidents of the Obra Manabo Ibabaw Association, SFRTODA and San Fernando Kabulig Association heeded the challenge of Mr. Villaflores and promised that they will do their best in making sure that the funds awarded to them will not go to waste and they will be a catalyst in bringing progress in the lives of their members and in their community. As ACPs of the projects, Brgy. Poblacion and Taclobo, San Fernando, Romblon will be responsible in the purchase of the tools, equipment and raw materials indicated on the approved proposals of their respective associations and will assist the department in monitoring the projects.
