439 vulnerable residents in Palawan’s 3rd District receive TUPAD wages

After rendering their service last December 2018, 439 vulnerable residents have finally received their hard-earned Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) Program wages on January 15, 2019. The Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA through Palawan Field Office distributed wages to the identified beneficiaries of Puerto Princesa City and Aborlan, Palawan at VJR Hall, Capitol Complex, Puerto Princesa City.

Beneficiaries worked for 15 days on social community projects with the assistance from the Office of 3rd Congressional District of Palawan through the leadership of Honorable Congressman Gil “Kabarangay” Acosta. These community projects were debris clearing, de-cogging of canals, clearing and basic repair of public infrastructures and other similar facilities, among others.

The beneficiaries’ salary is in line with the prevailing Statutory Minimum Wage Order Number RB-MIMAROPA-08 in MIMAROPA Region as of February 1, 2018 which is equivalent to PhP300.00 per day. Prior to the start of their work, an orientation was held for the identified beneficiaries at VJR Hall, Capitol Complex, Puerto Princesa City last December 11, 2018; informing them the safety and health during the work period, the necessary documents they need to comply and the one-year insurance benefit they will have as beneficiaries.

TUPAD is a component of the DOLE Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP). It is a community-based (municipality/barangay) package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers; those who were self-employed and have lost their livelihood, including farmers and fishermen, due to natural or man-made disasters, the underemployed, and the unemployed poor.
