DOLE MIMAROPA grants 2 Million pesos to transport group, boat makers

In a simple ceremony, the Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA through Palawan Field Office awarded the amount of two million pesos to the City Government of Puerto Princesa as Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) for the projects of Palawan Fiberglass Fabrication and Boat Builder Association (PFFBBA) and Barangay Santa Monica-Pajara Multicab Operators and Drivers Association, Inc. (BSMPMODAI) on January 9, 2019 at the Office of the City Mayor, City Hall Complex, Santa Monica, Puerto Princesa City. OIC-Assistant Regional Director and concurrent Palawan Field Office Head Bernardo B. Toriano awarded the funds to Hon. City Mayor Lucilo R. Bayron.

In his statement, Mayor Bayron thanked the department for funding the livelihood projects of associations in Puerto Princesa and wished both associations to run their business with passion and dedication in order to have more income and provide more source of livelihood to people in the City. “I challenge you to run your livelihood well so that more of your members will benefit from it and for the DOLE for further provide livelihood funds to other associations in the city. Let us take care of the trust provided to us”, Mayor Bayron added.

The Department funded one million pesos to each livelihood of the two associations as seed capital and have a continuous and stable source of livelihood and income to 187 direct beneficiaries of the groups. Likewise, the projects will strengthen each worker with skills and knowledge through a continuing development and enhancement in transport safety and boat building.

Tin his speech, the President of BSMPMODAI, Mr. Ramon Dumalaog, accepted the challenge of Mayor Bayron and promised that the association will make sure the sustainability and growth of the business once it commences. Meanwhile, PFFBBA President Tomas F. Quidpuan said, “We hope that this project will develop spirit of unity, discipline and positive working attitudes among members”.

City PESO Manager Demetrio A. Lopez, Jr., City Treasurer Maria Corazon A. Abayari, and officers of Palawan Fiberglass Fabrication and Boat Builder Association and Barangay Santa Monica-Pajara Multicab Operators and Drivers Association, Inc. witnessed the awarding.

These 2 projects were the last of 13 livelihood projects of the department in cooperation with the City Government for 2018. The Department, through the leadership of Hon. Secretary Silvestre H. Bello, III, awarded the amount of 4,095,438.50 last November 16, 2018 held at the City Coliseum, Brgy. San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City for the livelihood of 11 community-based tourism associations from different barangays in the city.
