DOLE-assisted transport group store is now open for business

In a simple ceremony, the City Government of Puerto Princesa through its City Public Employment Service Office (PESO) delivered all the items needed by Barangay Santa Monica-Pajara Multicab Operators and Drivers Association, Inc. (BSMPMODAI) to start their DOLE-assisted livelihood project “Establishment of BSMPMODAI Multicab Spare Parts Store” located in Brgy. Santa Monica Hall Compound, Santa Monica, Puerto Princesa City.

“The Spare parts store of Barangay Santa Monica-Pajara Multicab Operators and Drivers Association, Inc. (BSMPMODAI) is now ready for business,” said BSMPODAI President Ramon T. Dumalaog as he was teary-eyed and ecstatic upon the delivery of items to their rented store. “Sobrang saya ang nararamdaman ng mga opisyales at miyembro ng BSMPMODAI sa araw na ito sapagkat maisasakatuparan na namin ang pagbukukas ng aming tindahan upang aming mapaglingkuran ang mga myembro namin at iba pang magiging customer ng ating tindahan. Isang malaking papasalamat ang aming ipinapaabot sa buong tanggapan ng DOLE at ng Pamahalaang Lungsod ng Puerto Princesa sa mabilis nilang pagtugon sa aming pangangailangang pangkabuhayan” (This day BSMPMODAI is so grateful for the official start of our business that will not only help the members but also could cater services to other customers. Big thanks to DOLE and to the City Government of Puerto Princesa for the immediate action towards our livelihood needs), he added.

City PESO Manager Demetrio “Bong” Lopez, Jr. and his staff personally delivered all the necessary items indicated in the project proposal last May 15, 2019 to the officers and members of BSMPMODA. The approved project of the group amounting to Php1,000,000.00 is intended for the purchase of all spare parts of multicabs being operated by members of the group. The objective of the association is to sell these spare parts, tools and other items to their members for an affordable and/or cheaper price. Members who will patronize their products will also be given discounts or may enjoy patronage refund benefits.

In his statement, Mr. Lopez appreciated the support of DOLE and the City Government of Puerto Princesa for the fast approval, purchase and delivery of the project to the group. We would like to thank DOLE MIMAROPA and City Government of Puerto Princesa through the leadership of our Mayor, Hon. Lucilo R. Bayron for the speedy response in terms of livelihood needs especially BSMPMODAI’s. This livelihood project is a big help in alleviating the lives and daily needs of their family), he said.

The Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA through Palawan Field Office awarded the amount of two million pesos to the City Government of Puerto Princesa as Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) for the project of BSMPMODAI last January 9, 2019 at the Office of the City Mayor, City Hall Complex, Santa Monica, Puerto Princesa City.
