Resigned employee, distressed OFW claim benefits thru SEnA

A resigned employee[1] residing at Brgy. Labangan, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro who had served as an officer-in-charge of a motorcycle dealer in the province was able to receive his claims on 13th month pay, service incentive leave and refund of his loyalty pay from the company, reaching the total amount of PhP102, 486.60 on May 28, 2019.

Being in the service for five years and ten months, the former employee opted to resign from his job due to some challenges he encountered from the changes in work system of the company.

Fortunately, proposals and options were offered toward mutually acceptable solutions and good thing that both parties were amenable to what have been suggested.

The decision was reached after two series of conferences facilitated by Single Entry-Approach (SEnA) Desk Officer Mr. Rolando R. Ladao III right after the employee filed for a Request for Assistance (RFA) last May 2, 2019.

“Salamat po sa DOLE, kung hindi ko po ito inilapit sa DOLE ay hindi ko po makukuha agad ang aking benepisyo sa aking kumpanya(Thanks to DOLE, thru their assistance I was able to receive the benefits from the company), remarked by the worker.

On the same day, a distressed household service worker (HSW) in Kuwait was also able to receive her unpaid wages amounting to PhP9, 000.00 thru the assistance of her Philippine placement agency.

Residing at Abra de Ilog, the OFW who worked in Kuwait for two years and three months immediately proceeded to the Philippine Overseas Labor Office of Kuwait after she suffered maltreatment from her employer. The HSW chose not to pursue her claims at Post in order to expedite her return to the Philippines.

Upon receipt of the referral from POEA and filing of RFA, a conciliation-mediation conference was immediately facilitated by SEnA Desk Officer Gener L. Francisco between the requesting OFW and her Philippine agency.

After two conferences, both parties entered into settlement thus granting her legal claims. In addition, the OFW also received an amount of PhP20, 000.00 from Overseas Workers Welfare Administration under the Balik Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program of the said government agency.

Maraming-maraming salamat po sa inyo sa DOLE, sana marami pa kayong matulungan na tulad ko(Thank you so much DOLE, I hope you could reach more clients to serve and/or assist to), gratefully expressed by the OFW after the conference.

End/Gener L. Francisco
