Youths of Romblon benefit from SPES

DOLE’s Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) has started its implementation for 2019 last May 8, 2019. The long wait for the students to make their school break worthwhile has begun.

This year, given the limited fund for the implementation of the program, the Department of Labor and Employment Romblon Field Office, registered and reported a total of 359 SPES beneficiary pledges from the Local Government Units and State University. A total of 249 students has been placed and monitored.

College students were engaged in office works, they are assigned to some clerical works such as: receive clients, answer phone calls, organize files, evaluate documents and encode, while most of the High School students are tasked to some utility works such as: sweep parks and clean around the vicinity of the Municipal Hall. SPES beneficiaries who are far from the town proper were assigned in their respective barangays to minimize daily expenses.

SPES is a helpful program that provides us experiences that develops our competencies in performing our duties.” – Arabella Arbis of LGU Sta. Maria.

“SPES helps us to enhance or improve our communication skills and understand some LGU work processes. It also gave us extra income that we can use in the incoming enrollment.” – Laxie King Relox of LGU San Fernando

The beneficiaries will be receiving a daily wage from P250.00 – P301.00 per day and will be working for 20 days.

As the school year opens this August, the SPES beneficiaries will have their hard- earned salaries to abate their educational expenses.
