DOLE trains families of Recto Bank fishermen leading to kabuhayan aid

The man behind the entrepreneurship is an action-oriented and highly motivated individual who is ready to achieve goals. And since it is a dynamic progress, entrepreneurship is a process, a journey, not the destination; a means, not an end.

To ultimately strengthen, improve and effectively facilitate the entrepreneurial knowledge and skills of the families of the 22 fishermen of Recto Bank, the Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA Region thru Occidental Mindoro (OccMin) Field Office conducted a one-day Entrepreneurship Development Training on 10 July 2019 at Sikatuna Beach Hotel and Restaurant, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

The DOLE training team used the experiential learning approach to make the training more interactive thus leading to sustainable knowledge and skills for the intended participants. It also enables them to learn through reflection on doing. Among the topics discussed are the Vision and Mission, Goals and Objective Setting, Values Clarification, Management, Marketing, Production and Financial Management. Workshops on production, marketing and financial aspects were also carried out during the activity.

Mr. Roderick F. Tamacay, Field Office Head of DOLE OccMin stressed the significance of entrepreneurship for generating employment. Emphasizing that entrepreneurial ventures literally generate new wealth and further alleviates people’s condtion and improving the wheels of business industry. He also encouraged the entrepreneurs to sustain their livelihood so they could avail again another grant after three years.

Before the training concludes, the participants were able to finish and finalize their project proposals for the immediate processing and release of their intended Kabuhayan under DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program.
