12 enumerators, 7 community facilitators to profile child laborers

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) issued Administrative Order No. 142 Series of 2018, otherwise known as the Guidelines on the implementation on the Profiling of Child Laborers and Provision of Services to remove them from Child Labor.  The Department has a target of atleast 30% of the total 2.1 million children to be withdrawn from child labor.

On July 15, 2019 DOLE Romblon Field Office conducted orientation to 12 Enumerators, 2 Encoders and 3 Community Facilitators as well as PESO Managers on Department Order No. 149, Series of 2016, as amended by Department Order No. 149-A, Series of 2017 known as “Guidelines in Assessing and Determining Hazardous Work in the Employment of Persons Below 18 Years of and Republic Act 9231, An Act Providing for the Elimination of the Worst Forms of Child Labor and Affording Stronger Protection for the Working Child, Amending for this Purpose Republic Act No. 7610, As Amended, Otherwise Known as the “Special Protection of Children Against Child Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act”.

Said undertaking aims to equip profilers with the knowledge as well as the use of the profiling tools and for them to be familiarized on the effective strategies for easy and smooth implementation of the program.

               The 12 enumerators will be deployed in the 17 municipalities of the province of Romblon, while the 3 community facilitators were divided into 3 major Island Clusters namely, Sibuyan Island, Tablas Island and Islands of Romblon and San Jose.
