DOLE readies HOTS applicants on the world of work, conducts labor education seminar

Anyone who has ever gone through the process knows that finding a job sometimes can be a frustrating, dispiriting, and painful experience. But when you already found your luck, it means, this is the start of something rewarding.

To prepare the qualified job seekers on their work before their deployment date, the Department of Labor and Employment – Occidental Mindoro Field Office in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Sablayan through its Public Employment Service Office and with PLAN International conducted a two-day Labor Education Seminar on February 24-25, 2020 at Mt. Siburan Hall, LGU Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro. 

Among the topics discussed are (1) Republic Act 11261 or An Act Waiving Government Fees in the Issuance of Documents Required in the Application for Employment of First Time Job seekers, (2) Workplace Relations which includes the rights and obligations of employees and employers, management prerogatives, and kinds of employees according to their security of tenure, (3) General Labor Standards, (4) Occupational Safety and Health Standards and (5) Labor Advisory No. 06-20 or the Guidelines on the Payment of Final Pay and Issuance of Certificate of Employment.

Aside from eyeing for Hired-On-The-Spot (HOTS), this activity brought awareness to these 85 qualified job seekers on labor and employment matters and at the same time gave them practical knowledge and information on the labor laws, rules and policies, pre-employment tips and understand the world of work. 

With the success of this activity, these future members of the workforce shall now be able to value work ethics, core values, and other labor-related information that will guide and help them become responsible partners in establishing harmonious labor-management relations.
