DOLE OrMin’s WODP Scholar now enters to the World of Work

ORIENTAL MINDORO – Rustom F. Lozada, beneficiary of Workers Organization Development Program (WODP) Scholar under Isabelo Delos Reyes (IDR) scholarship grants finished his Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology for the SY 2019-2020 last 25 June 2020.

WODP Scholar is one of the programs of the Department of Labor and Employment which serves as a mechanism in strengthening trade unions and other worker’s organizations.

Also, it provides educational opportunities to union officers and members including their dependents, thus the scholarship is expected to motivate the workers towards greater productivity.

DOLE MIMAROPA headed by Regional Director Albert E. Gutib has three (3) graduated scholars and seven (7) who are still studying, regionwide.

In Oriental Mindoro, Parents of Disadvantaged Youth Association of Barangay Cambunang Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro, a DOLE registered Workers Association, was fortunate to be selected for granting the said scholarship.

Among its members, Luzviminda Lozada, treasurer of the Association, was chosen to enjoy the scholarship’s privilege through her son Rustom.

“Mahirap ang magpaaral ng kolehiyo kaya isang malaking biyaya sa amin ang mabigyan ng ganitong pagkakataon para makapagtapos ang aking anak ng sa ganun ay magkaroon siya ng maayos na trabaho at matutulungan niya din balang araw an gaming asosasyon” (Sending your child to college is really challenging that’s why I’m very thankful for this opportunity as my son got the chance to finish his studies that could help him to find a better job and may possibly  help our association someday), Luzviminda said.

With the limited slots, Lozada is one of the scholars of DOLE MIMAROPA since SY 2016-2017 who studied BSIT in Occidental Mindoro State College in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.

After four (4) years of determination, Rustom finally chased his dream to finish his studies.

With his earnest gratitude, Rustom gave thanks to DOLE for the big opportunity he had: “Thank you Lord at nakapagtapos din, kay mama & papa, mga tito & tita’s at kay lolo at lola ko maraming salamat po sa Supporta, at lalong-lalo na sa DOLE dahil naging scholar po ako. Maraming maraming Salamat po” (Thank God, I was able to finish my studies. I would like also to thank my parents, uncles and aunts for their usual support and especially to DOLE which gave me the chance to become their scholar).

Director Gutib congratulated Rustom for returning the trust of the department which is by earning his bachelor’s degree. “Job well done Rustom! You have demonstrated the true qualities of a scholar. DOLE MIMAROPA is hoping for your success on your future endeavour that you’ll share to your association”.

The DOLE shoulders the tuition fees, miscellaneous fees, book allowance and monthly stipend of the WODP Scholar.
