Calapan City, ORIENTAL MINDORO – DOLE MIMAROPA awarded last 09 July 2020, the check amounting to PhP962,790.00 to Barangay Balinggayan, this city, as the Accredited Co-Partner (ACP) for the livelihood project of Samahan ng mga Nagkakaisang Mamamayan ng Balinggayan (SNMB).

With 81 members, SNMB is composed of fisherfolks and farmers who sought DOLE assistance in order to augment their family’s income during lean fishing and farming seasons. They shall operate a catering service and rental project as their alternative source of livelihood.

SNMB President Gener M. Evangelista expressed his gratefulness for the said financial assistance from the government as he said “Masaya at nagpapasalamat kami sa Department of Labor and Employment dahil sa pinagkaloob sa aming asosasyon na dagdag pangkabuhayan” (We are very glad and thankful to the Department of Labor and Employment for the livelihood assistance granted to our association that will serve as our additional source of income).

PD Roderick F. Tamacay on his message emphasized good qualities of the members for the association to attain its objectives such as; trust, respect, and compassion toward one another and to its mission.

“If only they will take good care of the project and not to lose sight of its goals, the project will surely be sustained and will grow thus, the economic life of the members and their families will be uplifted. They should create a strong foundation and build their relationship toward development instead of creating factions and chaos among other members”, PD Tamacay said.

Moreover, Assistant Regional Director Erwin N. Aquino, who represented the DOLE Regional Director Albert E. Gutib, challenged the SNMB officers and members as he said “The association should keep and treasure the livelihood assistance awarded. And it should be taken as a lifetime commitment for their source of livelihood.
