DOLE, DepEd partnership provides emergency employment in Marinduque

BOAC, MARINDUQUE- Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA through Marinduque Field Office awarded last July 3, 2020 an amount of Php18 million worth of Tulong Panghanapbuhay Sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced (TUPAD) assistance to the Department of Education (DepEd) in Marinduque as Accredited Co-Partner to provide temporary employment to displaced workers covering the entire province.

The coronavirus disease or COVID-19 created a major damaging impact to the lives of workers and their families both in the formal and informal sectors.

Thus, the DOLE and DepEd forged an agreement to at least provide temporary relief thru the implementation of TUPAD benefiting 5,715 workers who lost jobs and livelihood due to pandemic.

TUPAD program of works involved Brigada Eskwela activity of DepEd, including declogging of canals and gutters to prevent the risk of dengue outbreak and ensuring all students and other children are safe from dengue infection and other harmful viruses.

This joint venture is also a source of income that will help defray school expenses of the students this coming school year.

DOLE Marinduque staff Marjun S. Moreno and Maria Cielo O. Orilla represented DOLE MIMAROPA OIC Regional Director Albert E. Gutib, and awarded the check to DEpEd Superintendent Dr. Elsie Barrios.

Signing of Memorandum of Agreement was also one of the highlights of the activity.

Dr. Barrios extended her earnest gratitude to DOLE as she said “Lubos po kaming nagpasasalamat sa DOLE sa wakas natupad na ang TUPAD para sa school. Malaking tulong po ito sa lahat ng school projects.” (Thank you so much DOLE, at last, TUPAD program for school was finally realized. We considered this program as great help for our school projects)

The beneficiaries shall receive a minimum wage of P320.00 per day for ten days or a total of P3,200.00 per beneficiary.
