PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PALAWAN – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA through its Palawan Field Office hired 101 beneficiaries to work as interns under the Government Internship Program (GIP).

Employment period began last 16 September 2020. The beneficiaries are currently assigned at the District Action Office while the other interns were deployed at the barangays of Puerto Princesa City and Aborlan Municipality to exclusively perform office works for three months that will end on 18 December 2020.

Minimum public health standards and protocols such as social distancing, mandatory temperature check, wearing of face masks, and frequent washing of hands with soap and water or use of alcohol or hand sanitizer shall always be taken into consideration during the employment period as stipulated in the internship agreement to ensure the safety of GIP beneficiaries. Furthermore, interns are prohibited from conducting field works per DOLE GIP Advisory No. 04-2020.

Prior to deployment, GIP focal person Ms. Elnie G. Iligan conducted an orientation last 14 September 2020 to the beneficiaries regarding DOLE’s guidelines especially the roles and responsibilities of the interns as well as of the receiving employers and the Department including the needed requirements to process the bimonthly stipends based on the prevailing minimum wage in the region that they will receive through money remittance center.

“I encourage you not only to do your job as interns but also love your job as it will reciprocate to the chance of being absorbed by the office you are assigned to,” Iligan said.

GIP is an internship opportunity of the department for high school, technical-vocational or college graduates who want to pursue a career in public service in either local or national government.
