P1M worth of starter kits benefits Informal Sector Workers in Marinduque

BUENAVISTA, MARINDUQUE - The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through its Marinduque Field Office and the Local Government Unit of Buenavista (LGU-Buenavista) released starter kits under DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) to fifty two beneficiaries last 08 October 2020 with a total amount of P1,000,000.00.

Serving as the accredited co-partner, LGU-Buenavista procured the raw materials, equipment, tools and jigs for the various livelihood projects including bread and pastry, negokart, and rice retailing.

Maraming Salamat po sa inyong lahat,” said Maria Vitto, a kakanin vendor and one of the beneficiaries from Brgy. Caigangan, as she expressed her gratitude to the government. (I’m thankful that I am one of the recipients of starter kits. This is a big help to a citizen like me who has no permanent livelihood. I will sustain this livelihood project to improve our lives. Thank you very much to all of you).

LGU Buenavista Mayor Nancy C. Madrigal thanked the DOLE for its support that helped the beneficiaries and their families in facing and overcoming the challenges of life in these trying times and reminded the beneficiaries to be thankful for all the aids that are given to them. (We are thankful for all the assistance given to our countrymen. This is a great help to all of you especially to your families to provide them with their needs. Let’s nurture this assistance to have a good life in the future)

In response, Provincial Director Peter James Cortazar who represented the OIC Regional Director Albert Gutib, expressed his gratitude to LGU Buenavista for the strong partnership and said, “Ang DOLE sa tulong ng LGU Buenavista thru PESO ay patuloy na tutulong at susuporta sa bawat isa sa atin para sa tulong pangkabuhayan. (The DOLE with the help of LGU Buenavista thru its PESO will continue to help and support through our livelihood program. We want you to sustain this livelihood assistance. We want you to grow your business. Let us work hard to improve our lives).

DILP of the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns helps to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers through promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
