DOLE's SEnA settles P9.1M benefitting 610 workers in MIMAROPA

Consistent with its mandate to protect workers and promote their welfare, this year, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA, through the Single Entry Approach (SEnA), settled monetary claims amounting to P9,183,600.58 benefitting 610 workers regionwide.

DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao gladly announced the consistent good standing record of the Office in SEnA as he said, “As of November 2020, we were able to reach a settlement rate of 80%.  We have settled 382 out of 478 total requests for assistance (RFAs).”

Among the labor concerns, underpayment on wages is the common issue brought in by the requesting party - affected workers.

Amid COVID-19 pandemic, DOLE was able to develop strategies such as using digital platforms to continuously deliver the programs and services of the department including the SEnA conferences based on the Department Order No. 214 series of 2020.

“With our well-versed SEnA Desk Officers applying several techniques in handling conferences, most of the RFAs were settled within an average of 12 days,” RD Suyao added.

The department keeps on exploring effective approach to execute its mandate for the Filipino Workers to attain full, decent and productive employment.

“We are kept on identifying win-win solutions for our clients. In fact, prior to suspension of SEnA proceedings during 2nd quarter, we have settled P355,837.03 benefitting 18 workers,” RD Suyao said.

SEnA is a reform measure institutionalized through Department Order No. 107-10 to provide a speedy, impartial, inexpensive and accessible settlement procedure of all labor issues or conflicts to prevent such from maturing into actual labor case.
