DOLE MARINDUQUE IMPLEMENTS 95M TUPAD PROJECT FOR 18,353 WORKERS

 

The Department of Labor and Employment kicks off the 2021 implementation of its employment program in Marinduque with its TUPAD (Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced) Workers program allocating Ninety - Five Million Pesos (Php95,000,000.00) covering 18,353 beneficiaries. To date, this the biggest budgeted TUPAD program to be implemented in the province. The program aims to provide temporary wage employment to workers in the informal sector who were displaced or whose earnings were affected due to the pandemic.

 The TUPAD Project will be implemented in three (3) batches: January 25 to February 8, 2021; February 9 to February 23, 2021; and February 24 to March 10, 2021. Each batch will engage 6,117 workers. As part of the health protocols, beneficiaries will work for four (4) hours per day for 15 days in their respective barangays. TUPAD beneficiaries will receive a salary of Php4,800.00 each based on the prevailing minimum wage rate in the region.

 

DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Joffrey M. Suyao thru DOLE Marinduque Provincial Director Peter James D. Cortazar and his staff are closely monitoring the implementation of the program as it is one of DOLE’s contribution to the government’s pursuit of a nationwide approach in the implementation of recovery and rehabilitation measures to cushion the pandemic’s impact on the economy and society. The program gives priority to workers in the informal sector affected by the pandemic.

 

One of the TUPAD beneficiaries, Milagros Santillan expressed her thanks to DOLE. “ Ang laking tulong po sa pamilya ko na makasama dito sa programang TUPAD. Kahit papaano ay makakadagdag ito sa puhunan namin sa pagtitinda. Salamat sa Diyos at salamat sa DOLE.

 TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers is a community-based package of assistance that provides emergency employment for displaced workers, underemployed and seasonal workers, for a minimum period of 10 days. The 18,353 beneficiaries are engaged in works on social community projects like street cleaning, de-clogging and maintenance of canals, barangay beautification for a period of 15 working days.
