DISTRESSED OFW RECEIVES P206K IN MONETARY BENEFITS

SAN JOSE, OCCIDENTAL MINDORO – A distressed Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who worked as a household service worker (HSW) in Jordan for three (3) years and six (6) months received her 11 months’ worth of unpaid salaries through the Single-Entry Approach (SEnA) program of the Department of Labor and Employment.

Ms. Gloria M., a 33-year-old resident of Brgy. Murtha, San Jose, Occidental Mindoro, after failing to receive her monetary claims despite several follow-ups to her placement agency, filed a Request for Assistance (RFA) at the DOLE Occidental Mindoro Field Office on May 4, 2021.

Upon receipt of the RFA, an online conciliation-mediation conference between the OFW and her Philippine agency was immediately conducted by DOLE Single Entry Assistance Desk Officer Gener L. Francisco on May 6 and 11, 2021.

Ms. Gloria narrated how difficult it was for her to work overseas especially during the pandemic and during the months where she was not paid of her salary. Her desire to come home and be reunited with her family has always been in her prayers.

After exploring all possible solutions at the initial conference, her local agency committed to assist Ms. Gloria M to claim her unpaid salaries from her foreign employer.

On the second conference, the placement agency manifested that Ms. Gloria’s foreign agency agreed to released her unpaid salaries, thus granting her the full amount of Php206,270.40.

“Maraming salamat po sa DOLE sa mabilis na aksyon at pagtugon ninyo sa aking reklamo. Napakalaking tulong po nito lalo na sa aking pamilya na makapagsimulang muli lalo na ngayon na hindi pa ako makakabalik muli sa ibang bansa. Sana marami pa kayong matulungan na tulad ko”, (Thank you DOLE for your immediate response to my complaint, this is a great help to me and my family for us to start again. Especially now that I may not be able to work abroad. I hope you can help many more OFWs like me) gratefully expressed by Ms. Gloria.

Under the SEnA program, conciliation-mediation is the process of dispute management used by the Single-Entry Assistance Desk Officer (SEADO) to effect settlement between the requesting party and responding party.
