PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, PALAWAN – On 05 January 2022, The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) MIMAROPA through its Palawan Field Office awarded a Livelihood Project amounting to Php20,000.00 to a beneficiary from Narra, Palawan at the DOLE Palawan Field Office.

The livelihood project granted was Php20,000.00 worth of grocery items and equipment for the ‘Street Foods Stall’ business of Mrs. Clarita N. Pao at Purok Maharlika, Barangay Tinagong Dagat, Narra, Palawan. Mrs. Pao is the grandmother and the legal guardian of H. Claber, a 16-year-old child laborer who passed away while working the conveyor machine in a corn farm in Barangay Taritien, Narra, Palawan last March 2021.

During the awarding, the DOLE Palawan FO Provincial Director Mr. Luis B. Evangelista expressed his deepest sympathy to the family for their loss. He also encouraged the family to maximize the use of equipment and raw materials given to them towards the advancement of their livelihood project.

In the same way, Mrs. Pao also expressed gratitude to DOLE for granting the livelihood project to their family. According to her, this grant will not only help her family but will also support Harold’s sister going to college. Mrs. Pao is hopeful that this humble beginning will eventually develop their food stall project in the future.

The livelihood project grant is under DOLE Integrated Livelihood and Emergency Employment Program (DILEEP) through its DOLE Kabuhayan Program that seeks to contribute to poverty reduction and reduce the vulnerability to risks of the working poor, vulnerable and marginalized workers either through emergency employment, and promotion of entrepreneurship and community enterprises.
