DOLE PALAWAN IMPLEMENTS TUPAD PROGRAM BENEFITTING 3,217 WORKERS

PALAWAN Province – The Department of Labor and Employment MIMAROPA through its Palawan Field Office implements Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced workers (TUPAD) to benefit a total of 3,217 informal workers residing at PPC and other various municipalities of the province.

Before any TUPAD work engagement, orientation is being conducted to ensure that all beneficiaries are aware of the health and safety protocols, area of assignment, work details and documentary requirements for the processing of their wages. This was done in all the target municipalities of Palawan from January until the first week of February.

TUPAD beneficiaries will be engaged in community service for ten (10) days, such as waste clearing and segregation, de-clogging of canals as well as cleaning different areas in the community. Each of the beneficiaries will receive salary of P3,200.00 based on the prevailing minimum rate of P320.00 in the region.

Moreover, beneficiaries will be provided with basic Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as caps, facemask, gloves, and long-sleeved shirts. They will also be enrolled under Group Personal Accident Insurance (GPAI) of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) for insurance coverage.

A community-based amelioration program, TUPAD provides emergency employment for displaced, underemployed, and seasonal workers for a minimum period of 10 days to a maximum of 30 days, depending on the nature of work to be performed.
