DOLE GRANTS P400K LIVELIHOOD FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO WORKERS ASSOCIATION IN CALAPAN CITY

 

CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO – On 11 April 2022, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) - MIMAROPA thru its Oriental Mindoro Field Office awarded a check amounting to Php462,850.00 to Samahan ng Masisipag na Residente ng Tawagan para sa Turismo (SMARTT) for its group livelihood project in Brgy. Tawagan, Calapan City.

 

The livelihood financial assistance is intended for the purchase of materials and equipment for the proposed Eco-Tourism Community Project particularly the establishment of Floating Restaurant Business in lakeside of Sitio Ilaya. Meanwhile, the Barangay Local Government Unit of Tawagan as Accredited Co-Partner will provide the land and building for the said livelihood project. Once the project is operational, it would provide additional decent source of income to forty-nine (49) members of association including their dependents.

 

During awarding ceremony, the officers and members of SMARTT expressed their gratefulness as they thanked and welcome the assistance from DOLE and LGU. They manifested to nurture and sustain the livelihood assistance which will provide income in the community and boost the tourism industry in Calapan City.

 

In his message, DOLE MIMAROPA Regional Director Naomi Lyn C. Abellana emphasized the importance DOLE’s livelihood assistance which have undergone thorough process of evaluation to ensure its feasibility and viability. She urged the association members and local governments unit involved in the implementation of this livelihood project to join hands together to ensure that it would continue its operation and provide additional livelihood in the local community.

 

Also commended during the event was Tamaraw Vision Network (TVNet), one of DOLE MIMAROPA’s media partner. who won during the 2021 DOLE National Media Awards. TVNet received Php10,000.00 cash prize and the Silver Awards plaque for the Pillar of Social Protection.

 

The DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) or Kabuhayan Program of the Bureau of Workers with Special Concerns (BWSC), DOLE, supports the government’s efforts for poverty reduction and inclusive development through entrepreneurship and community enterprise.
